I would not trade my Relax Sauna for any amount of money because it really is my most valuable material possession. I’ve been using saunas almost every day since 2017 and the Relax Sauna is by far the best combination of price, quality, and portability. I could write a book on the studies and benefits of saunas, but to save us both time I’ll just give some pros and cons. Just so you know, I can count on one hand how many reviews I’ve written over the years, so I’m not incentivized in any way other than hating to see people needlessly suffer.
Pros
1. It gives you the benefits of a long, sweaty calorie-burning workout without having to move a muscle. You won’t build muscle, but it’s great for retaining muscle and removing lactic acid, which helps reduce soreness in the tissues.
2. Sweating acts as a third kidney for the body, and your skin is your largest elimination organ. Being able to sweat on command gives you more control over your body’s ability to cleanse itself from a lymphatic and cellular level. This reduces strain on the kidneys and adrenals and helps support healing and regeneration.
3. Fever is the body’s most powerful defense against dangerous viruses. A sauna induces a relaxing low-grade fever. You can either wait until you get sick and then start using a sauna, or be proactive and use one regularly several days a week to support your immune system.
4. There is almost nothing on earth you can spend just over a dollar per day on for a few years that provides the health benefits of a sauna. It’s truly one of the smartest and most affordable investments I’ve made for my physical, mental, and emotional health.
5. I’m someone who used to have a long list of health issues in my mid-20s—skin problems, arthritis, hair loss, depression, and more—and now I have none. I’ve spent thousands of hours studying the longest-living and healthiest populations on earth as well as the work of naturopathic doctors. A high-quality infrared sauna has been one of the most impactful additions to my routine.
6. A sauna is amazing, but don’t stop there. If you want optimal health, also prioritize high-quality sleep, sunlight exposure, good hydration from fruits and vegetables, eating your last meal earlier in the day, improving your breathing habits, and reducing stress as much as possible.
Cons
1. For the first few uses there will be a slight smell from new materials heating up for the first time. After a few sessions the smell disappears and you won’t notice it again. If you’re concerned, simply run the sauna for about 30 minutes a few times before using it.
2. The pop-up portion can’t be put in a washing machine, so it’s helpful to place a washable mat on the floor of the sauna to protect it.
3. The chair also cannot be washed in a machine, so occasionally spraying the black fabric with a diluted bleach solution can help keep it clean.
4. It only comes in one color. That’s all folks.
